Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the $1 billion ski-and-golf vacation community located 250 miles west of Calgary and less than 400 miles northeast of Vancouver, completed its first custom single-family home in April. The five-bedroom, 5,700-square-foot home features 1,400 square feet of cedar decks with expansive views of the village, mountains, and Columbia River basin. Costing more than $4.3 million, the timber-frame home was one of a dozen ski-in/ski-out homes that are now under construction. (Homesites at Revelstoke range from around $636,000 to more than $1.2 million.)

In all, plans call for the resort to comprise 550 single-family estate lots, 850 townhomes, 1,500 resort condominiums, and 2,000 hotel suites. Revelstoke recently completed the first of three condo-hotel buildings—the others are planned to break ground later this year, and the community’s townhomes are scheduled to be ready between late-2010 and mid-2011. Revelstoke’s ski facilities (currently at 3,300 acres, with plans to expand to 10,000 acres over the next 15 years) opened in 2007; the resort’s Nick Faldo golf course is scheduled for its first tee-off in spring 2011.
