Located on 475 acres of pristine Laurentian forest and adjacent to one of North America’s top ski destinations, Lac en Ciel (French for “Lake and Sky”) is set to release its first real estate offerings with a gala opening on Sept. 4 in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. While the Mont-Tremblant area has an abundance of condominium communities, Lac en Ciel is one of the few new developments that will offer residential estates, says Matthew Shear, of the Benjamins Group, one of the community’s developers.
Shear, who has a background as a developer in South Florida, says he was drawn to Quebec by the stability of the Canadian economy and the need in the Mont-Tremblant area for luxury residential estates that offered a combination of high design and green building. The homesites at Lac en Ciel will range from two to six acres. Prices for a custom home of about 3,200 square feet on a two-acre lot will start at about $850,000. While the community will be opening a model home and offering packages with preferred builders, owners can hire their own builders and follow the community’s architectural guidelines with an emphasis on rustic-contemporary design.
Plans call for a clubhouse with fitness center, yoga pavilion and outdoor barbecuing area. The community’s private lake will feature a marina with opportunities for non-motorized boating. In winter, the private ski hill will be ideal for beginning skiers or tobogganing. A large portion of the property has been set aside for parks, with one dedicated for deer and the other for birdwatching. And long-range plans also call for a brand name destination spa to occupy a 25-acre location along the lake.
“We’re creating a community where residents really won’t have to leave except to go to the mountain for skiing or perhaps a cultural event in Tremblant,” says Shear.
